Life Drawing
A small selection of Julie Colclough’s life drawings and paintings are available from our Chester gallery.
As a student Julie started life drawing in 1979 and later ran her own classes for 20 years while working as a freelance artist and illustrator. She passionately believes in the importance of observation drawing from life, and would not have had such a long successful career as an artist without those years of observation drawing and keeping sketchbooks. In the gallery we are constantly advising aspiring artists to draw from life as much as possible.
As A.A Gill wrote, “Life drawing is to painting what singing scales is to opera”.
